Asking Questions is a Good Thing.

The process of starting therapy can feel like a lot. Here are some Frequently Asked Questions that may help you as you take the first steps in deciding if Tula Therapy is right for you.

Have a question that hasn't been answered? Call Tula and Natalie is happy to fill in any blanks.

What does Tula mean?

Tula Therapy was named and inspired by Natalie's long time respect for the practice of yoga. Tula translates to "balance". Throughout grad school and early in her therapy career, Natalie had a yoga business called "Effort & Ease". The goal was to help others on their path to maintaining a sense of balance & purpose in an ever-changing world.

In forming Tula Therapy, Natalie wanted to stay consistent with what she's always been passionate about in her work: supporting others as they practice their own unique way of putting in just the right amount of "effort" needed to overcome what's hard while also giving themselves permission to experience "ease", or rest, in the process.

What will services at Tula Therapy cost?

Tula Therapy currently accepts BCBS, Cigna, Aetna, UPHP, and those that are willing to pay out of pocket for services. If Tula Therapy is not in-network with your insurance company, a superbill can be provided for you to submit to your insurance for possible reimbursement. Please check with your insurance on their out-of-network coverage. If you're not sure if your insurance coverage includes behavioral health services, or are unsure of your co-pay, give your insurance company a call. A small number of sliding scale spots are available for those that qualify. Tula Therapy's sliding scale is based on the "Green Bottle" method. Rates vary based on the duration of the appointment and the type of the appointment offered. Self-pay rates, including sliding scale, and specific co-pays will be discussed during the initial consultation phone call.

What is the cancellation policy?

24 hour notice is required for all cancellations and reschedules. Cancellations & no shows within less than 24 hours are subject to a charge equal to 50% of the full session rate.

I called, but no one answered. What are your hours?

Tula Therapy is open to messages and phone calls Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday from 9:00a-4:00p. If you called during business hours but Natalie didn't answer, she is likely in session. Your phone call will be returned within 24 business hours. Please note: Tula Therapy does not provide crisis services. If you or someone you love is having a mental health crisis, please dial 911. Visit our crisis resources here.

6

Does Tula Therapy have social media?

Tula Therapy maintains a Facebook page to allow individuals to share practice updates and blog posts with other Facebook users if they wish. It is important to note that Natalie will not be accepting friend requests on any social media platforms and will not be communicating with any current or past clients via any social media messaging. Doing so is against the Social Work Code of Ethics and compromises Natalie's professional boundaries. Clients of Tula Therapy will be asked to sign practice policies that further detail boundaries associated with interacting with the practice on social media.

Does Tula offer crisis services?

Tula provides outpatient therapy support to those that meet mild/moderate mental health diagnostic criteria and does not offer after hours or crisis services. All prospective and current clients can access Tula's compiled list of crisis resources at any time.

How long will my therapy last?

In general, sessions last for 45-55 minutes. The initial assessment takes about an hour but may take up to 90 minutes. After the initial intake appointment, a treatment plan with goals and objectives will be established. The treatment plan serves as a guidepost and informs the course of services. A person's progress is dependent on a number of factors, including but not limited to: severity of symptoms, appointment frequency (ex: 1x/week, bi-weekly, 1x/month), therapeutic rapport, level of client readiness to modify/change habits that potentially contribute to symptoms, etc. Services can range from a few weeks to several months. Once goals are met, so long as other needs have not been identified, discharge from services will occur.

How do I know Tula Therapy can help me?

Natalie is committed to providing services within her scope of practice and not beyond specific trainings/areas of expertise. All prospective clients must complete an initial phone consultation with Natalie to determine if services offered at Tula will be appropriate for your current needs. After establishing relationship and beginning work together, Natalie may determine that a referral to another provider may be best practice based on your current symptoms and needs. Additionally, you may feel like Natalie's services are not a great fit for you. At any time, Natalie invites you to share your concerns and intends to create a space where having difficult conversations feels comfortable. Should discontinuation of services become necessary for any reason, Natalie will make attempts to connect you with another therapist or health provider that is able to meet your current mental health needs.
